2023-03-20 Webinar: The Rights of Citizens in the  Deployment of Wireless Infrastructure

On March 20, 2023, BBILAN, in collaboration with Americans for Responsible Technology, produced a webinar entitled, The Rights of Citizens in the Deployment of Wireless Infrastructure. Attorneys Scott McCollough, Andrew Campanelli, and Odette Wilkins first presented a practical blueprint for every municipality in the country seeking “to do the right thing.” Specifically, local municipalities have an opportunity to achieve a reasonable and safe balance, compliant with FCC regulations concerning polarized non-ionizing radiation exposure; while protecting inhabitants and the environment, and taking advantage of immediately viable alternatives based on optical fiber to the home and workplace. After their presentations, Julian Gresser introduced the concept of Evolutionary Values, meaning those values and processes that will enable local municipalities and communities to meet the challenges of climate change, to adapt, and to evolve. Julian offered practical ways by which local municipalities and grassroots organizations can invoke Evolutionary Values in negotiations, advocacy, ordinance drafting, and litigation. (See: Julian Gresser, How the Leopard Changed its Spots—Evolutionary Values for an Age in Crisis—publication date May 1, 2023) BBILAN stands ready to support local municipalities, grassroots communities, and their counsel, in designing and implementing these solutions.
